INTRODUCTION:
Under the umbrella of the All-Atlantic Cooperation for Ocean Research and Innovation (AANChOR‑CSA) Project (https://allatlanticocean.org/main), the All-Atlantic Training Platform (AA-TP) Training For Technicians Working Onboard Research Vessels will offer trainees a range of aspects of oceanographic training on-board a world class research vessel.
Cape Town has a long and illustrious maritime research heritage and we are proud to welcome you aboard the vessel FRS ALGOA, owned by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). More information on the FRS Algoa.

- 12 x 5 l Carousel & SBE911 CTD system
- Gliders and autonomous devices
- SBE45 TSG underway system with remote SBE38 temperature probe at seawater intake
- General Oceanics underway pCO2 system
- Hydrobios vertical/oblique bongo; Hydrobios Multinet system; Continuous Plankton Recorder; RMT; Neuston catamaran
- Acoustic devices: 75 kHz RDI ADCP; Simrad ES70 acoustic system (with 120; 200 and 38kHz transducers) 18kHz echosounder
- SDS (Scientific Data Server) that captures all the underway navigational; metrological; TSG; Light sensors (SPAR) and acoustic data. Also stores all the station details.
