ZMT Alumnus and Ambassador:

Victor Miti Libuku, Namibia

 Victor Miti Libuku

What was your position at ZMT?

I got involved with ZMT through the ISATEC Master Programme, from which I graduated in 2014. My dissertation was titled “Temporal Variability in the Inshore Particle Fluxes of the Benguela Current Upwelling System of Namibia”. Some of my notable memories at ZMT are, for example my thesis defense at ZMT which was a wonderful and exhilarating experience. Another memory was a practical session at the ZMT labs which acquainted me with very interesting and complex equipment I never worked with before.

How did you benefit from your time at ZMT?

My affiliation with ZMT has greatly improved my career and has enhanced my potential as a scientist. I am still in contact with some alumni, two of them also living in Namibia. Furthermore, I am still in touch with former cohort members.

What happened since you left the institute?

After my graduation, I returned to my home country where I had already been working under the ministry of fisheries. The knowledge gained during my time at ZMT enhanced my contributions and performance at work. I am currently working as a Biologist (Researcher). Before my graduation, I was employed as a research assistant. The experience gained from my stay at ZMT has aided me in my new position under the Integrated Coastal Zone Management section of the ministry. There I mostly deal with intertidal research.
