24.5.16 | Young scientists from developing countries have the opportunity to apply for one of five NAM-Fellowships. The stipend by the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) and the NAM S&T Centre* financially supports a three-month research stay at the ZMT in Bremen.

Interested scientist from one of the NAM S&T Centre’s member countries can build on their research skills in the areas of ecology, biogeochemistry, modelling and tropical coastal marine systems.

Applicants must hold at least a Master of Science (M.SC.) or equivalent degree and should be actively engaged in research and development.

The NAM-Fellowship was initiated eight years ago to provide opportunities to scientist from developing countries to work with the ZMT and to strengthen their research skills and gain new knowledge.

“Since 2008 we have hosted NAM-Fellows from amongst others Myanmar, Indonesia, Tanzania, Mauritius, Malaysia or India at the ZMT. Some of these fellowships have developed into research cooperations,” says Corinna Harms, coordinator of the NAM-Fellowship Programme. “By offering this stipend jointly with the NAM S&T Centre the ZMT contributes to capacity building in the tropics.”

Applications need to be sent to the NAM S&T Centre by July 8, 2016. Please see www.namstct.org.
