The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research GmbH (www.leibniz-zmt.de) is an independent research and teaching institute that provides scientific knowledge for the protection and sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems. The working group Deliberation, Valuation and Sustainability and the project STEPS (Sustainable Tourism: Evolving Paradigms) is (subject to release of funds) looking for a

Student assistant (gn)

(Reference: 5-STEPS-Hiwi)

Your tasks:

  • Help us with administrative tasks of the workgroup and projects
  • Support website upkeep and project social media presence
  • Support data entry, literature research and data analysis within various projects connected to sustainable tourism and land-sea socio-ecological connectivity
  • Create outreach materials
  • Potentially checking interview transcripts in English, summarizing and synthesizing from audio transcripts
  • Generally support the workgroup leader, for example potentially with event organization

Requirements:

  • a motivated and kind student at a German University
  • preferably being a student at the master level in any social science field and/or in the marine science field, but with a strong interest in sustainability and interdisciplinarity
  • interested in working in an international environment and on an international project
  • being well organised, reliable and able to work independently
  • are interested in tourism sustainability, and in gaining experience with the various activities that are part of the academic process (e.g. literature search, data analysis)
  • wants to get more involved in our research and potentially find together a topic for your thesis.
  • very good English skills, other language skills (especially Spanish) a plus

 Details of position:

  • 30 hours/month employment starting as soon as possible
  • Duration: 12 months with the possibility of an extension
  • Flexible work conditions are possible
