26/11/2021 | November 29, 2021 is the closing event of the Science Year 2020/21, which was dedicated to the topic of bioeconomy.
The programme will begin at 5 p.m. with a welcome address by Federal Research Minister Anja Karliczek. It then offers an exciting review of the highlights of the past two years and ends with the "passing of the baton" to the upcoming Science Year 2022.
As part of the highlights, the projects of the university competition will also be presented, in which the ZMT participated as one of the winners with its exhibit project on sustainable aquaculture.
The event will take place at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin and can be followed via livestream.
On Tuesday, November 30, a virtual press conference will also be held from 11 a.m. to mark the conclusion of one of the Year of Science's funded projects. The project "Bioökonomie findet Stadt" bundled activities of the Houses of Science throughout Germany.
The summer vacation programme at the Bremen House of Science was also part of the project. Among other things, workshops for schoolchildren were held with the participation of the ZMT.
About the Science Year 2020/21 - Bioeconomy
Rising temperatures, littered oceans, depleted soils and dwindling fossil resources - the earth is groaning under a growing world population and rampant consumption. The petroleum-based economy of the present must change - toward a sustainable use of renewable raw materials: the bioeconomy. The Science Year 2020/21 highlighted these interrelationships and explored the bioeconomic approaches that science and research can already use today to help achieve the goals of the sustainability agenda.
In the Science Year 2020/21, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research funded more than 30 science communication projects on the topic of bioeconomy. Numerous stakeholders from science and research, business, the media, and art and culture discussed and experimented with citizens on land and on water.
