11.06.2019 | Four scientists of ZMT recently had the opportunity to meet the Minister of State of Palau, Faustina Rehuher-Marugg, in the Hamburg’s Honorary Consulate of the Pacific Island State. During her visit of Europe, the Minister made time for talks with ZMT representatives which took place in a very relaxed atmosphere. Minister Rehuher-Marugg was interested in the research and overall scientific orientation of ZMT and in particular in the projects in Palau.

Dr. Wulf Köpke, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Palau in Germany, Thomas Schubert, Honorary Consul of Germany in Palau, as well as scientific director Prof. Dr. Hildegard Westphal, Dr. Sonia Bejanaro, Dr. Sebastian Ferse and Dr. Marion Stagars from ZMT took part in the discussions. Minister Rehuher-Marugg was keen to deepen cooperation with the ZMT. In addition to Dr. Bejanaro's current research projects on fish in the reef systems of Palau and Dr. Ferse's work in Palau for Future Earth Coast, the exchange of students and scientists between the ZMT and Palau will be an area of focus. In addition, ZMT’s involvement in the "Our Ocean Conference 2020", which takes place in Palau next year, was also talked about.
