14/09/2023 | The application process is now open for the Joint Fellowship on “Blue Economy in Tropical Coastal Marine Research” offered for 2024 by the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre) and ZMT.
Young scientists from NAM S&T Centre and NAM S&T-Industry Network member countries can apply for one of the maximum of five fellowships covering a three-month research stay at ZMT. The fellowship is funded by the NAM S&T Centre and ZMT. Only one scientist will be selected from any particular NAM S&T Centre country/network Member.
Selected fellows will be able to work with ZMT senior researchers and faculty members and strengthen their research skills in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, Theoretical Ecology and Modelling, Social Sciences and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems. There is also the possibility to undertake short-term joint research projects.
Proposals in the area of Blue Economy are highly encouraged in order to strengthen research on solutions. Depending on the research topic, the selected scientists can also benefit from the ZMT’s association with Bremen University and other well-established marine research institutes in Bremen.
Since the start of the programme in 2008 ZMT has hosted NAM Fellows, amongst others,from Indonesia, Tanzania, Indonesia, Mauritius, Malaysia, Myanmar Bangladesh, Colombia, Kenya, Vietnam, Iran, Nigeria, Gambia, Egypt, Jordan or India. Some of these fellowships have developed into research collaborations.
The deadline for submitting applications for the fellowship directly to the NAM S&T Centre is 31 October 2023.
