27/10/2020 | On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, the Bremen House of Science is staging an exhibition presenting its origins and history as well as its sponsors, including the ZMT. "Old House - New Knowledge: Well over 15 years of the House of Science" is the theme.

The opening of the House of Science in September 2005 was a highlight of the "Bremen-Bremerhaven City of Science 2005" programme. Being located in the middle of the city centre it is intended to be a showcase for Bremen's science open to all interested parties.

Knowledge has always lived in this house in the Sandstraße. Already in the 1670s it housed a small school. In 1853 the workers' education association "Vorwärts" moved in, which gave the house its name "Haus Vorwärts". The programme included educational and recreational activities such as language courses, reading circles and making music. Finally, the "Haus der Wissenschaft" was established in 2005.

Today, the house offers a varied programme of lectures, exhibitions and forums, in the planning and implementation of which the sponsors, for the most part universities and research institutes from the state of Bremen, are always involved.

The exhibition can be seen until November 4. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
