1.12.16 | In March 2017, the first content-focused conference of the EU Cost Action 'Ocean Governance for Sustainability' will take place in Bremen. Interested members of the European network can send in manuscripts and abstracts until December 31, 2016.

Organized by the OceanGov-Network and hosted by the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) the conference will take place at ZMT and Bremen’s Haus der Wissenschaft from March 6 to 8, 2017.

It will serve as the first content-focused event of the Ocean Governance Network with the aim to jointly conceptualize each working group, setting the scene for the thematic and content-focused work of the following 3.5 years.

Besides the six panels focusing on the core themes of the six working groups of the network, there will be a conceptual panel on the further developments of existing (and terrestrially based) governance theories based on empirical governance discussions from the marine realm, a science-policy panel discussion with representatives from policy-making and civil society, as well as an early-career and family-work-balance round table.

This conference will lay the cornerstone in this rethinking effort - and we are looking forward to having you on board! Kindly do not hesitate to forward this email and call also to those colleagues keen to additionally contribute to the Cost Action 'OceanGov' in the future.

In order to implement the COST Action initiatives, six synergistic-driven working groups around these main thematic areas:

1. Land-Sea Interactions
2. Area-Based Management
3. Seabed Resource Management
