From 28 July to 8 August 2025, IOI Germany, the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), the University of Bremen, and IPB University (Indonesia) will jointly host their first international summer course on the topic "Generating Impact Through Transdisciplinary Research: Co-Designing Solutions for Complex Marine and Coastal Challenges." Participation in the English-language course is possible both online and on-site in Bogor, Indonesia.
"Generating Impact Through Transdisciplinary Research: Co-Designing Solutions for Complex Marine and Coastal Challenges"
Coastal and marine challenges are complex and multifaceted—so too must be the responses. The first Transdisciplinary Summer Course (TSC) 2025 offers participants the opportunity to collaboratively develop solutions for real-world sustainability issues with international experts. The course provides foundational knowledge and methods in transdisciplinary research, using practical case studies from marine and coastal contexts.
Course Components:
- Lectures by leading international scientists
- Practice-oriented group work and case-based learning
- Field trips to island and coastal regions around Jakarta
- Communication between science and policy
- Strategies for enhancing research transfer and societal impact
- Insights into research quality, teamwork, co-design, and transdisciplinarity
Who Can Participate:
The course is open to holders of a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines. Participation is free of charge.
