Deadline extended: Apply now for the 2025 Joint NAM S&T Centre–ZMT Fellowship on “Blue Economy in Tropical Coastal Marine Research”
In collaboration with the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre), ZMT has extended the application deadline for the prestigious 2025 Fellowship Programme. The new deadline is now Friday, 20 December 2024.
This unique programme offers early-career scientists from NAM S&T Centre member countries and NAM S&T–Industry Network Members a great opportunity to enhance their expertise and expand their professional network through a three-month research stay at ZMT in Bremen, Germany.
Since its inception in 2008, this Fellowship has supported scientists from around the world, including Indonesia, Tanzania, Mauritius, Nigeria, and many more, helping to foster international research collaborations.

Selected fellows will:
- Undertake short-term joint research projects on impactful topics, with a strong emphasis on the Blue Economy, fostering innovative solutions for sustainable development.
- Work closely with ZMT’s senior researchers and faculty members, contributing to cutting-edge studies in Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, Theoretical Ecology and Modelling, Social Sciences, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems.
- Gain access to ZMT’s extensive research network, including collaborations with Bremen University and other renowned marine research institutes in Bremen.
What’s Included?
- Fully-funded International Airfare for fellows from eligible NAM S&T Centre countries and Network Members.
- A fixed monthly subsistence allowance, provided by ZMT, to cover accommodation and living expenses during the fellowship.

- A detailed research proposal on your intended work at ZMT.
- A support letter from a ZMT senior scientist, department leader, or the Scientific Director.
