16.5.17 | By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) and the Universitas Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT) have extended their collaboration.
As part of a new joint project under the lead of Museum Koenig in Bonn (ZFMK) the institutions are currently working on setting up a new master study programme at UNSRAT in Manado (Sulawesi) with a focus on reef biodiversity and protection.
In Manado the ZMT is also working together with the Coral Triangle Center to establish a study programme fort he region with participants from the six countries of the coral triangle.
Last week scientists from UNSRAT, ZMT and ZFMK met for a week-long in Bonn and Bremen to get the project off the ground and discuss further steps within the collaboration. ZMT is hoping to arrange short research expeditions in Manado for young scientists to study the biodiversity of the reefs.
