20/06/2024 | This week, the U Bremen Research Alliance (UBRA) organised the Research Data Day on the campus of the University of Bremen. Researchers and specialists from administration and technology were able to find out about best practices and current challenges in dealing with research data. They were able to exchange ideas with data experts and colleagues from various disciplines.
The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) also actively participated in the event. ZMT's Research Data Service was on site and provided information about the special challenges of research data management for tropical data in the natural and social sciences.
The ZMT colleagues were not only available to answer questions with their expertise at one of a total of ten information islands in the SuUB of the University of Bremen, but also offered a World Café with five tables together with colleagues from the SuUB, Leibniz BIPS, Fraunhofer IFAM, Leibniz IWT and MAPEX-CF. At the tables, they discussed the topic of "Cultivating best practices in research data management across disciplines" with interested students, researchers and lecturers.
"Every year, Research Data Day provides an excellent opportunity to emphasise the great importance of well-managed and accessible research data for the scientific community and society as a whole. At the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research, we regularly see the importance of research data as a basis for important findings on the protection of tropical coastal ecosystems," says Dr Birte Hemmelskamp-Pfeiffer, Head of the Research Data Service at ZMT.
