Abstract:
While we live on the edge, mangroves can provide many nature-based solutions, including climate change mitigation. Brazil has the second-largest mangrove area in the world, with the northern Brazilian mangroves often in the spotlight for their conspicuous forests. In this seminar, I present some results on the not so known mangroves from the northeastern Brazilian semi-arid coast, focusing on the microbial community associated with mangrove soils and roots and how studying them can help us design tools for re-establishing mangroves.
