26/09/2022 | At the weekend, science was the main focus at the banks of the river Weser in Bremen. ZMT and the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology (MPI), joined forces to present part of their work at the Research Mile which is held every year in the framework of Maritime Week in Bremen.
At different stations, interested visitors could dive through ZMT's virtual reef saving animals and corals from dangers such as overfishing or overfertilisation. MPI's (and ZMT's) HyperDiver exhibit had guests playing against a computer trying to recognise animals in the coral reef. Visitors could discover microbial life under the microscope and test their knowledge of seas and oceans as part of a throwing game.
After a two-year break due to the Corona pandemic, thousands of guests used the opportunity to walk along the Weser and discover what the research landscape in Bremen has to offer. Here are some impressions of the weekend, which regularly attracts around 60,000 visitors from Bremen and the region.
