New exhibition at Bremen's Haus der Wissenschaft: "From idea to the result - How does research work?"

How does science get its results? Such processes can vary greatly depending on the discipline and the research topic. For societal impact, it is important to make such processes comprehensible and vivid so that understanding and trust are strengthened. On Thursday 5 November at 5 pm, the Haus der Wissenschaft in Bremen will open the exhibition "From idea to result - How does research work?", which offers an insight into the paths of science and aims to show how scientific knowledge is gained and contributes to developments within society and the economy.

Exhibits illustrate how ideas become results: How can a material that behaves like a starfish be produced? Could a mineral become a climate saver? How do you teach a shoe box to fly? And what does Sherlock Holmes have to do with material damage? The processes that lead to the answers are as diverse as these and other questions. The ZMT is also participating with an exhibit. Dr Murugan Ramasamy and Prof Dr Nils Moosdorf will be presenting an experimental setup from the RETAKE2 project, which is investigating whether the mineral olivine can specifically contribute to CO₂ reduction - an approach that could open up new avenues in climate protection.

In addition, a small photo exhibition "Show us what is otherwise invisible!" presents images and short videos of scientists engaged in day-to-day research. Dr Lara Stuthmann gives the audience an insight into her everyday research life  - from work routines and intermediate stages to the special places where findings are made.

The annual exhibition of the Haus der Wissenschaft and its supporting institutions runs until 25 February 2025.
